Hace muchos años, en una tierra lejana existió una joven llamada Mariassa cuya malvada madrastra envió con su hermana Bába Yagá para que buscase aguja e hilo.
La chica, asustada por la fama de la vieja bruja acudió a ver antes a su verdadera tía, la cual le advirtió:
-"Cuando el álamo blanco intente arañarte la cara, adorna sus ramas con un lazo rojo".
-"Cuando la puerta de la vieja casa no te deje pasar, rocía sus bisagras con aceite".
-"Cuando sus perros intentes morderte, tírales el pan".
-"Cuando su gato intente arañar tus ojos, dale un pedazo de jamón".
Al llegar Mariassa a la casa de la bruja, ésta la puso a coser apresada mientras en secreto se preparaba para cocinarla.
Cuando Baba Yaga se ausentó, Mariassa le dió el jamón que llevaba guardado al gato, el cual le dijo: "Si de Baba Yaga te quieres salvar el peine y la toalla de esa mesa debes llevar".
Acto seguido, la muchacha cogió el peine y la toalla y salió corriendo de la casa. Primero usó el aceite para abrir la puerta, después tiró el pan a los perros que la seguían y por último adornó las ramas de álamo para poder esquivar sus ramas.
Cuando la brujá notó la ausencia de la muchacha la persiguió montada en su veloz mortero arreandole con el mazo. Cuando la bruja estaba cerca de Mariassa, ésta tiró una toalla que se convirtió en río, pero Baba Yaga remó con el mortero cruzando el río, de modo que la jóven tiró el peine que se convirtió en un gran bosque de densos árboles que dificultaba el paso de la bruja, de modo que la protagonista escapó.
Cuando el padre de Mariassa se enteró de lo sucedido, echó a la mujer de casa y vivió para siempre feliz junto a su hija.

Many years ago, in far away lands lived a young girl named Mariassa, whose evil stepmother sent her with her sister (sister of the stepmother) Bába Yagá for to found a needle and yarn.
Scared of the bad fame of Bába Yagá , the girl looking for her true aunt and she said her that:
-"When the White poplar try to scratch your face, adorn the branch with a red ribbon".
-"When the old door want not open, use the oil at the hinges".
-"When the dogs try to attack you, throw them bread".
-"When her cat tries to scratch your eyes, give him a piece of jam".
At the Baba Yaga’s house and with the needle and yarn, Mariassa gave jam to the cat. The cat said her: “If you want to escape form here, you should to take the towel and the comb from the table”.
The girl took the towel and the comb and run away from the house. First, she used oil in the door, after she threw bread to he dogs, and finally, she aqdorned the bracn of the White poplar.
When the witch looked the girl running away, followed her riding a giant morter. When Bába Yagá was near, Mariassa dropped the towel, that become a river.After, she threw the comb, that become a big and dense forest. Mariassa can escaped like this.
When the real father heard the history, he threw the woman out of the house and father and daughther lived happily forever.
